Common Problems with your Water Heater

The water heater in your home often goes about unnoticed. We use it for everything from washing dishes, to taking showers, to washing our clothes. It works around the clock ready for us when we need it most. This is why it’s such a big problem when there’s a problem. These are some of the common problems with your water heater most people encounter.
Common Problems with your Water Heater 1

No Hot Water

This is usually caused by a faulty heating element, a tripped fuse if it’s an electric tank, or a pilot light that’s out if its gas powered. The thermostat could even be at the wrong setting.

Rust Colored Water

The interior of the tank could be rusting due to age. It can also be corroding which can lead to leaks or ruptures down the line.

Leaking

If you notice leaking or pooling water by the base of your water heater and you’ve cleaned it up only to see the leak again there’s a problem. There could be a loose connection, which is solved by tightening up the pipes. Or maybe there are valves that need replacing. If it’s still leaking, it’s time to call a professional plumber, the tank could need replacing.

Popping Sounds

Hearing popping or bubbling sounds coming from the water heater can mean there’s sediment lying on the bottom of the tank. When this happens, the water doesn’t heat up, it boils instead due to overheating on the bottom.
